A potential vendor came into our office in mid-November to make a pitch. We were quite interested and asked about a realistic deployment schedule.

“Let’s see,” he started. “November’s almost over, and December’s a write-off with the holidays, so we could target first week of January.”

“Huh?” I thought to myself. “Could I come to live on your planet?” Last time I checked, December can be one of the busiest months of the year. In our office, we’re working full tilt to fast-track data conversions and fulfill our commitments for timely and efficient implementations.

What’s the scenario in your office? If you’re like most dental practices we support, I doubt your scheduler is sitting blank. Parents take advantage of school vacations to fit in family appointments. And calendar-year dental plan deductibles tend to put people in use-it-or-lose-it mode.
